During the Sunday performance of the 2026 Gunfighter Skies Air Show, two jets collided, forcing the pilots to eject as the planes crashed to the ground. The four occupants landed safely away from the intense fire caused by the crash.
Injuries were reported, and one ambulance quickly left the location to transport one of the crew members to the hospital. The other three performers were reportedly kept on base to be treated.

While the Idaho State Police didn’t directly assist at the scene of the crash, they were key in maintaining order on the roads around the air force base with road closures and traffic direction. A news release from ISP reports that the two jets crashed at approximately 12:13 PM. The jets crashed to the ground and exploded, causing a brush fire nearby that required ‘limited evacuations’.
Airbase Road/SH 67 was closed for around three and a half hours following the crash. SH 176/Grandview Highway between MHAFB Contractors Gate and Easy Street is still closed while the accident and scene are being investigated. Simco Road was already, and remains, under construction with reduced speeds and gravel road surfaces.
