It may be in the 60s down in the Valley, but it's still cold and snowy up at Bogus Basin! The season's not over yet, but the mountain doesn't want to waste any time celebrating a historic year!

According to the Idaho Statesman, Bogus Basin has a 100 Inch Celebration planned for this Saturday, March 18th from noon-6 p.m.  Not sure what a 100 inch celebration really is?  At Bogus Basin it happens about once every twenty years.  Thanks to record snowfall this winter, the mountain reached 100 inches at it's base at the summit.

That means a huge party is in order! Take a drive up the mountain this weekend to check out the snowbar they've built outside the Simplot Lodge. In celebration of the 100 inches of snow, they'll be offering 100 cents ($1) off drinks served from it.

You'll also have a chance to compete in the frozen t-shirt contest, tug-of-war and dash for cash and other prizes. The party is just another great part of the Bogus's 75th anniversary season.

They plan on ending ski season on Sunday, April 16th to start preparing for the summer improvements coming to the mountain. Over the next two years Bogus Plans on spending $4.3 million to add a mountain coaster, new patio with 200 additional outdoor seats and two fire rings, artificial sliding surface for summer tubing and eventually an aerial adventure ropes course. They expect the gravity driven coaster to be ready for it's maiden voyage by August 1st, 2017.

If you didn't get a chance to see a preview of the coaster when they introduced it a few weeks ago, check it out HERE.
