Affordable Housing Makes Idaho Shine
When it comes to housing payments across the U.S., Idaho is proving to be a great example of strength and stability. Many states face challenges with rent and mortgage delinquency. Idahos has one of the lowest housing payment delinquency rates in the nation. With just 3.61% of households falling behind, Idaho's housing market reflects a combination of economic stability and affordability.
A National Crisis Idaho Manages to Sidestep
Across the country, millions of Americans are struggling to keep up with housing payments. States like Mississippi and Illinois are dealing with high delinquency rates, with more than 15% of households struggling in some regions. Renters are taking the brunt of these challenges as rent delinquency rates outpace mortgages in almost every state. Even though the numbers don't show it, people here in Idaho feel the same effects.
Keys to Idaho's Success
The experts say that two critical factors stand out regarding Idaho's success: economic stability and affordable housing. Idaho's economy is driven by industries like technology and agriculture, which create steady employment opportunities. Idaho's "relatively affordable housing market" supposedly manages rental and mortgage costs manageable. I bet some families in the the Treasure Valley would beg the differ. Idaho's housing policies, though, encourage sustainability and growth.
Methodology
This study used data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s Household Pulse Survey, focusing on two key metrics: the percentage of households not caught up on mortgage payments and the percentage of households not caught up on rent payments. By combining these figures, the average delinquency rate for each state was calculated.
