Trader Joe's had issued a recall on one of their more popular soups recently and the bad luck seems to continue for poor Trader Joe's.

The Food & Drug Administration recently announced another recall on an item a lot of us might be enjoying... right now, at this very moment.

Your nuts are contaminated

According to an announcement from the FDA on Monday, Wenders LLC out of Dublin, California is recalling their Trader Joe's branded nuts: "50% Less Sodium Roasted & Salted Whole Cashews."

Apparently, the cashews are infected with salmonella which can cause some serious medical issues in a lot of people: young, elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.

If you're like us, you're probably wondering how nuts can get infected with salmonella as it's more commonly associated with meats than anything.

The National Library of Medicine says that while tree nuts and peanuts typically do not have the right combo of characteristics for bacterial growth, salmonella has been "detected in almonds, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, peanuts, pecans, pine nuts, pistachios, and walnuts."

You can read more about the science of it all here, but as for the cashews sold at Trader Joe's, they were sold in 16 states including Idaho and California according to the FDA.
