The world is evolving and each generation makes an impact for better or for worse. Millennials are taking over the world, and it is their generation that is deciding what is the hottest fashion now, the best music, and what technology, apps, and sites are the best. Sadly, because of millennials, some things that were once often used or popular are fading away, and could be gone altogether sooner than later. Here are some things that are fading out in California. 

No More Processed Foods in California

Eating healthy should be a goal of everyone. It helps extend your life, helps your body function better, and gives you more energy. California is full of some amazing eating establishments, and while not all of them are healthy, many are. The younger generation no longer prefers processed foods and is leaning more toward organic foods these days. In a state where image is so important and having a beach body puts pressure on many, eating organic food is a big start. You can thank millennials for not being able to find processed foods in certain grocery stores.

Who Needs a Doorbell on the West Coast?

It may sound ridiculous to have a generation knock out a thing like doorbells, but it is happening. Most millennials will text their friends that they are outside, and rarely get out of the car these days. Doorbells will likely never truly go away, but traditional ones will, and it is because of the advancement of technology. With smart doorbells, there is no reason to ring a doorbell, because most people will get an alert on their phone and the cameras allow conversation without answering the door.

Postcards Are No More in California

Most millennials may not even know what a postcard is. It used to be that you would go on vacation and send a postcard to your family, your friends, or perhaps a coworker. With smartphones and social media, there is not much reason for postcards anymore. Most millennials post their vacations online and update their friends and family about how their trip has gone or is going. Sadly, postcards are more of a collectible these days than they are something useful to mail to people.

Hotels Are Overrated in the Golden State

No, hotels are not going away, but they are hurting in business, and it is because of millennials. The younger generation is leaning towards Airbnb's more than hotels these days. It allows them to share a home, have more private space, and is easier with larger groups. It has hurt the hotel business, but they will likely never go away. There are pros and cons to both, but over time, Airbnb's will likely become more popular and will hurt the hotel business more moving forward. 

No Chance of Winning the Lottery in California

With record winnings in the past couple of years, it seems that lottery tickets should be at an all-time high, but with the millennial generation, it is the opposite. Only 33 percent of millennials are buying lottery tickets, and choosing to spend their money elsewhere. The odds of winning are low, and after years of buying losing tickets, it can add up. Millennials are aware of this and have chosen to not purchase tickets and take their chances. The results of winning don't typically end well, with it often leading to relationship issues, bankruptcy, and other issues as well.

High Heels Are So Last Generation

It used to be that most women wore heels to go to church, work, and other special occasions, and while some still do, millennials are more about comfort, and there is a decent amount that has never worn or owned a pair of heels. They are beginning to go out of style, and fewer and fewer women are wearing them. The days of heels are becoming a thing of the past, and the days of being comfortable are what matter more now.
