Seven Catholic Clerics Credibly Accused of Sex Abuse in Idaho
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Boise has published a list of credibly accused clerics of child sexual abuse since 1950.
In a recent letter posted on the Diocese of Boise website, seven clerics, six priests and one deacon, are listed to have been from the Church in Idaho while listing nine other priests and religious who served the diocese from other parts of the country.
Four of the priests have since died, while another moved to a different diocese, two are currently imprisoned; former deacon Robert Howell for possession of child pornography and recently laicized priest Thomas Faucher for possession and distribution of child pornography. Laicization removes the person's ability to serve as a cleric. According to the diocese, 300 priest have served in Idaho since 1950.
