President Donald Trump will address the nation from the Oval Office on Tuesday to discuss the crisis at the Southern border. The address comes before Trump’s planned visit to the border on Thursday.

Trump’s address is set for 9 p.m. ET. It’s unclear which networks will carry the address, the New York Times reported.

President @realDonaldTrump will travel to the Southern border on Thursday to meet with those on the frontlines of the national security and humanitarian crisis. More details will be announced soon.

The government is partially shut down after Congress and the president failed to reach a funding agreement over Trump’s plans for a $5 billion wall at the U.S./Mexico border. The Democrat-controlled House has vowed to reject any budget requests that include funding for the wall.

On Sunday, the president said the plan now calls for a steel barrier rather than a concrete wall.

“It is both stronger and less obtrusive,” the president tweeted. “Good solution and made in the U.S.A.”
