The Twin Falls community is rallying around a man who was severely injured in a bad bonfire accident that took place this past weekend. At the time of this writing, the family's GoFundMe goal is currently at 40%... and we're confident we all can help them reach their goal.

What Happened To Cause The 3rd Degree Burns?

According to the official GoFundMe, Robert Thompson was attempting to start a family bonfire outside their home. When he attempted to start the fire, "the gas fumes sucked into the gas can and exploded while he was holding it causing him to suffer" from third-degree burns all over his upper torso.

Thompson's partner, Kimberly Graybeal, told East Idaho News that they were attempting to make s'mores with their two daughters on April 1.

"He is stable and breathing, but it will be a long time till he comes home from the hospital," Graybeal shared on the GoFundMe page.

"Please keep us in your prayers as we are really in need of them."

Graybeal also shared that her husband was initially put into a medically induced coma for a few weeks and is expected to be in the ICU in Idaho Falls for a minimum of three months. Graybeal is asking for the community's help as Smith recovers and they continue to provide for their two daughters.

"I am asking for help as my husband was the main income in our house. I thank every single one of you for just sharing. I will update as much as possible throughout this. Thank you."
