It was a big year for Boise State basketball. The team played well and won--they won a lot. A few tough losses left them out of the title conversation for the Mountain West conference but that didn't get in the way of their post-season dreams.

While many complained about their placement and seed in the March Madness bracket--there was nothing to be sad or embarrassed about this March. Boise State did something that the program has never done this year.

They went to the tournament for the third time in a row.

It's clear that their leader, Leon Rice, has done a fantastic job building up the program and he often credits administration for giving him the resources to get there more than he's ever been given before.

So what's next for Leon Rice? Is it time to rebuild for a FOURTH tournament appearance or, could something else be in the cards?

Let's be clear: no credible rumors have come across our radars on Leon Rice leaving Boise. There are plenty of fans out there, however, saying that Rice might be considering a move a few hours north to the one program that might peak his interest.

We're talking about his alma mater: Washington State University.

The Cougs just lost their head coach, who did an amazing job with a program that hadn't had a basketball run like they did this year, in years.

Rice was a graduate of Washington State University in 1986 and has many ties to the State of Washington. One potential brutal conflict? WSU will be playing Gonzaga, his former home, in West Coast Conference play next season.

Could Leon be back next season? Most fans and crossing their fingers and hoping so.

Here's a look at Leon Rice, head coach of Boise State men's basketball program, over the years:

Boise State's Most Underappreciated Star

Boise State seems to mean "football" for most, right? On a national stage, after all, it's the blue turf and the success that the Broncos have had on it that made the university a household name. What happens on the hardwood, however, is far from appreciated at the level that it should be. Leon Rice came to Boise State as a blessing from one of the most powerful basketball programs in the nation: Gonzaga University. Now, the winningest basketball coach in the history of the school seems to take immediate heat if the Broncos aren't in the Final Four. Spoiled by wins on the football field, fans seem to expect the same of the basketball program but when the investment in basketball is so much less than football--can you really have these types of expectations!?
