I'm always looking for fun places to explore and things to do with my kiddos. Camping is on our summer bucket list. Here are the best places to tent camp with small children near Boise.

The public has spoken! Candace Ferebee of Boise posed this question on the Boise Bench Dwellers Facebook page and everyone threw out some great ideas!

    Mack's Creek

    Lucky Peak

Mack's Creek is located at Lucky Peak in Boise, there's a small beach, campsites, restrooms, and parking.

  • 2

    Horsetheif

    Cascade

This one is a bit of a drive. Horsethief is an hour and a half outside of Boise in Cascade, but no reservations are needed and they have great fishing.

  • 3

    Silver Creek Plunge

    Garden Valley

This looks like it is well worth the drive. They've got an amazing natural geothermal hot springs pool and cabin options if you want a little luxury, but you can tent camp as well.

    Grimes Creek

    Boise

Grimes Creek is not a far drive and apparently a great spot for first-time campers.

  • 5

    Shafer Bute

    Bogus Basin

Shafer Bute is located just past Bogus Basin, so less than an hour outside of Boise. Tammy Quinn of Boise says she takes her kids here all the time.

    Baumgartner Campground

    Fairfield

This is a 2 1/2 hour drive outside of town, but there is said to be excellent fishing, hot springs, and it's gorgeous!
