Jay S. Amyx, who served as mayor of Boise from 1966 to 1974, died over the weekend at the age of 90. Amyx was the first Boise mayor to approve development of a portion of the Greenbelt and severed at what is called the begging of Boise's urban renewal era. In his time as Boise mayor, Amyx fought to turn the Boise River from a polluted eyesore into a place people could enjoy, the former mayor played a key roll in bringing HP to Boise, as well as Boise Junior College, which eventually became Boise State University. He and the City Council bought the property Downtown where City Hall is now located, Service will be handled by Cloverdale Funeral Home.
