You never think something like this is going to happen in our safe little oasis, but it did. Shots were fired last night in a Meridian neighborhood.

38-year-old Robert Wolfgang Geoffory is facing two counts of aggravated assault, as well as misdemeanors for resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia.

In an article on KTVB that reports the crime, Robert Geoffory is described as suicidal during the turn of events. The shots were fired at a man and a woman in the backyard of a home off Franklin Road when Robert's emotions turned into actions he is most likely regretting today.

Several adults and children were at the home and they were obviously scared for their safety as officers responded to the scene.

According to the woman involved, she went out to talk to Robert when he waved a gun at her, told her to leave, and then fired that gun at her and another man in the yard.

Officers were careful to get everyone at the residence out of the home safely before Geoffory was arrested. He did resist arrest as officers cuffed him, which added additional charges.

Obviously this man is going through major emotional turmoil, so hopefully, he gets the help he needs. His first court appearance is this afternoon.
