A Wild, Wild, Night at A Walmart
A mother and son are behind bars following a chaotic scene involving a screaming woman, a loose dog, karate, vandalism and shoplifting. Or you could call it just another evening at Walmart.
The strange chain of events began at about 8:30 p.m. when officers in Eau Claire, Wisconsin responded to a disturbance call from a local Walmart. They found 46-year-old Lisa Smith screaming in the entryway, trying to catch her dog, according to the police report. When police tried to help, Smith began tearing down store displays before heading to the parking lot to "perform karate moves." Meanwhile, the dog, Bo, stole a box of cornbread stuffing mix and followed its owner outside. Smith was arrested, after which she attempted to kick out the window of a patrol car.
Meanwhile, Smith's son, 25-year-old Benny Vann, was in the back of the store. He stripped naked and began taking new clothes off the store's racks, the report indicates. When officers approached him, Vann hopped onto a scooter and tried to run them down. He was arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious behavior, disorderly conduct and retail theft. Smith was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and misdemeanor bail jumping. Bo was taken to a local animal shelter.
