Have you ever wanted to be a police officer?  Perhaps, like many, you've watched several crime dramas on television and wondered what it's like to be a police officer?  Well, here's your opportunity to live your dream.The Boise Police Department (BPD) is looking for a few good candidates for their next BPD Citizen Police Academy.  The academy is another example of community outreach from BPD and looks to enhance the communication between the police and Boise citizens.

Participants will get a unique view of what it takes to serve the Boise community.  You'll also get a look at how officers train to protect and serve.  The academy begins March 6, 2019 until May 22, 2019 every Wednesday night from 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m.

There will be two Saturday sessions and one ride along with a Boise Police officer.  The academy is free.

Here are some of the items that will be covered:  Patrol overview, Community Oriented Policing, Recruitment and Training, Crime Prevention/Identity Theft, DUI & Traffic Enforcement, Drug Recognition Expert, Internet Safety, Law Enforcement Stress, Critical Incident Overview, Dispatch and 911 Calls, Building Searches, K-9 Demonstrations, Narcotics and Gangs, Crime Scene Investigation & Boise Police Crime Lab, Criminal Investigations, Domestic Violence, Victim Witness Program, School Resource Officers.
