Criminals beware, the Boise Police Department has a new crime fighter who's ready to clean up the streets of the tree city.

Trained and ready to go, Edo is the newest K9 member of the Boise Police Department. Edo is a two-year-old Belgian Malinois and German Shepard mix from Slovakia.

Edo has been training with a certified BPD K9 trainer in the areas of drug detection and apprehension.

His trainers say they can already tell Edo is going to be a great asset to the team. Edo is partnered with Officer Shane Williams and replaces K9 Jardo.

K9 Jardo lost his life in the line of duty.  He was remembered in a public ceremony for his bravery and sacrifice.  K9 Jardo's service was recognized for saving the lives of two Boise Police Officers who were shot in the line of duty.
