It has been a YEAR for Boise State basketball and while the season is winding down, now more than ever, the team could use its fans to back it up.

The season started off with a bang--but not necessarily a great one. The Broncos hosted a Division II program from Hawaii that plays out of a strip mall and lost. With high hopes for the season, a season opening loss that brutal really heart the Broncos' stock out of the gate.

There have been 'season ups', such as the Broncos knocking off a difficult and well-known St. Mary's team in Idaho Falls. And plenty of downs, such as getting beat at home by Utah State--there the Aggies had, arguably, a stronger fan base that our own Broncos at home.

Now, one HOME game remains and traditionally, it has been one of the most exciting to take place all year.

San Diego State, who not long ago was playing the National Championship Game, will be at Extra Mile Arena this week. The team is expected to once again be chosen to make the March Madness bracket and is one of the best in the league.

Even on a down year--Boise State's rivalry with the program proves a threat. Take a look at this photo:

That would be a court, STORMED by Boise State fans who saw the Broncos take down San Diego State in Overtime--here in Boise.

Say what you will about the season for Boise State this year, the team is solid and they COULD knock off a conference foe in an anticipated game.

Tipoff is Tuesday, March 2nd, at 7:00 p.m. -- and as any good basketball fan knows, ANYTHING can happen in March!

Boise State's Most Underappreciated Star

Boise State seems to mean "football" for most, right? On a national stage, after all, it's the blue turf and the success that the Broncos have had on it that made the university a household name. What happens on the hardwood, however, is far from appreciated at the level that it should be. Leon Rice came to Boise State as a blessing from one of the most powerful basketball programs in the nation: Gonzaga University. Now, the winningest basketball coach in the history of the school seems to take immediate heat if the Broncos aren't in the Final Four. Spoiled by wins on the football field, fans seem to expect the same of the basketball program but when the investment in basketball is so much less than football--can you really have these types of expectations!?
