Meridian Police and Ada County SWAT Arrest Suspect
Meridian Police arrested forty-three (43) year old Joshua LANEY of Meridian on a $250,000 warrant for Robbery and Aggravated Battery. The warrant stems from a Boise Police Department Case.Officers initially responded to the call of a domestic disturbance at 314 W. Cherry Lane at approximately 12:30 a.m. Upon arrival Meridian officers were able to quickly identify LANEY as the suspect from the Boise Police case. Officers were able to quickly remove an adult female, a fifteen (15) year old female and a nine (9) year old male from the trailer as LANEY barricaded himself in a bedroom.
Officers attempted to negotiate with LANEY, who would not respond to officer’s requests to surrender. The Ada County Metro SWAT Team made entry into the trailer shortly before 5:00 a.m. LANEY still refused commands and was ultimately bitten by a Meridian Police Department K9 and taken into custody.
LANEY was treated and released from a local hospital for a bite to the lower leg and then booked into the Ada County Jail.
The Ada Metro SWAT Team is made up of officers from the Meridian Police Department, Ada County Sheriff’s Office and the Garden City Police Department. Boise Police also assisted in this operation.
