There are numerous holidays in the U.S.A. to honor our nation's military, so what makes Memorial Day special? Let us fill you in.

To clarify, you may also know Memorial Day by another name...Decoration Day. Regardless of the name, this holiday has one specific purpose: To honor those brave men and women who lost their lives while serving in America's military. While it's always ok to thank a military veteran for their service, Memorial Day is meant to remember those who died while serving. It falls on the last Monday in May and this year that's this Monday, May 28th.

Many times, Memorial Day gets confused with Veteran's Day, which takes place on November 11th. Veteran's Day is a day to honor all those who've served in the U.S. military.

There's also Armed Forces Day which falls on the third Saturday in May in America. On that day, we honor those currently fighting for our freedom in our nation's armed forces.
