Beto O' Rourke will make sure military-style guns aren't in the hands of the American people. Speaking at Thursday's third Democrat debate, the former Texas congressman announced his support for a mandatory gun-buyback program for weapons "designed to kill people on a battlefield". "Hell yes, we're going to take your AR-15, your AK-47, you're not going to be allowed to use it against your fellow Americans anymore," Beto told the audience at the ABC News sponsored event. News of the plan wasn't taken well by Texas state Rep. Briscoe Cain, who tweeted "My AR is ready for you Robert Francis." The social media site removed the Republican's message, saying it violated their rules against violence and wishing harm against others. Do you think Beto's plan can help curb gun violence in the US?

Some of Thursday night's debaters reportedly stood on boxes hidden behind their podiums, to make them appear taller.  Some viewers noticed after catching a side view of the lineup where Julian Castro's box was plainly visible.  It was reported afterwards that Kamala Harris and Amy Klobuchar also stood on height-boosting platforms. This is actually a fairly common tactic in televised debates, so that the candidates all appear to be roughly the same height. Do you think taller candidates have an advantage in an election?  Do you think the boxes were requested by the candidates or assigned by ABC?
