Here’s a State Where You Can Smoke Weed and Keep Your Job

Another state has taken their pro pot stance to an unprecedented level. In a marijuana-related first, Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak has signed a law that prohibits employers from turning down job applicants because they're stoners, according to CNN.

The new law, which goes into effect in 2020, states, "It is unlawful for any employer in this state to fail or refuse to hire a prospective employee because the prospective employee submitted to a screening test and the results of the screening test indicate the presence of marijuana."

That's not to say every job in Nevada is open to weed smokers. The law makes exceptions for employers hiring firefighters, EMTs, drivers and positions that "could adversely affect others' safety."

New York City Council passed a resolution that prohibiting employers texting for marijuana, reports USA Today.The paper goes on to say that Maine has a law that land owners and employers can't decline folks who use the weed.

Idaho's Governor Brad Little has repeatedly said that he is against legalization of marijuana in the Gem State.  Several pro pot businesses have gathered at the Idaho border seeking to take advantage of Idaho saying no to drugs.

The federal government continues to recite federal law that makes marijuana illegal.  Several prominent banks have begun to pressure US Senator Mike Crapo to hold hearings that would allow banks to accept pot proceeds.
