The Mountain West Media has voted Boise State and San Diego State as preseason favorites to win their respected divisions.   The Broncos play in the Mountain Division along with Air Force, Colorado State, New Mexico, Utah State and Wyoming.  The Broncos received 28 of 30 possible first place votes.  Utah State received the other two first place votes.  The Broncos finished last year 12-2 overall and 7-1 in league play.  The season highlight was another Fiesta Bowl win over heavily favored Arizona 38-30.  The Broncos return 17 starters under second year coach Bryan Harsin.

The Aztecs beat out their other Western Division foes with 27 of a possible 30 first place votes.  The Western Division includes Fresno State, Hawaii, Nevada, San José State and UNLV.  Fresno State received three first place votes.  San Diego finished last season 7-5 and a tough loss 17-16 to Navy in the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.
