Sheriff Joe Runs For Senate in Arizona
Conservative former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio has announced that he's running for the US Senate. The sheriff who recently lost re-election is now seeking to replace Senator Jeff Flake who will not seek to return to Washington. Although eighty five years old, Arpaio took to Twitter to make the announcement. He was recently pardoned by President Trump for criminal contempt.
The former Maricopa County Sheriff is no stranger to media attention. International news outlets would frequently visit the Maricopa County Jail. The inmates lived in 'tent city and wore pink underwear underneath their prison attire.
Arpaio is a strong supporter of President Trump and said via Twitter 'to support the policies of President Trump and make America Great Again.' Political experts within Arizona and in Washington expect President Trump to actively campaign for Arpaio.
