Kevin Miller shares that the House passes permanent extension to 9/11 compensation fund The US House of Representatives passed a permanent extension to the 9/11 victims compensation fund Friday. Comedian Jon Stewart, advocate for 9/11 families, and outspoken critic of inaction by law makers on the issue, reacted in an MSNBC interview saying, "This is about all the people that have fought for so many years to get justice for what has happened to this community. The survivors, the victims, the first responders... How many people died last month? ... 16 people. ... They died as much from 9/11 as those that died that day." Stewart was joined by family of retired NYPD Det. Luis Alvarez who also recently passed way. While the Senate still must also pass the $10 billion measure, Stewart says Sen. Mitch McConnell has said that will happen before summer break.
