Revisit 22 Years of Incredible Concerts at the Western Idaho Fair [GALLERY]
The Western Idaho Fair, while not always known by that name, has been the social event of the summer for over 120 years! While animals, agriculture and rides have been around for most of the fair's history, the grandstand concerts haven't been.
According to the fair's website, the grandstand acts used to be things like war reenactments or plane flights. There was also a period of time where they included a rodeo, but that was eventually phased out because it was hard to compete with rodeos like the Snake River Stampede and Caldwell Night Rodeo that were recognized by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
Today, most of the grandstand acts are rock, country or pop music artists with a comedian sprinkled in every now and then. The shows are always included with the price of your fair admission! This year's line-up includes:
- August 22: Chris Janson
- August 23: Ja Rule and Ashanti
- August 24: Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo
- August 25: Stone Temple Pilots
- August 26: Billy Currington
They'll join a list of performers that's included some of the biggest names in music when they were up and comers and certified rock legends. We dove deep into the internet archives to try to put together a list of every concert that's happened at the fair since 2000 (the first year archive.org could pull up concerts on the fair's website.)
There are a few gaps (we could only find Brad Paisley in 2001 and we couldn't find anything about who performed in 2005) but for the most part, this list is pretty complete! How many of these shows have you attended?
