Why Idaho Gas Prices Jumped Eight Cents This Week

Ouch, another painful week at the pump for Idahoans who purchase gasoline and diesel to run their vehicles.

Gas prices continue to rise despite President Trump's announcement today that Venezuelan oil would lower gas prices.

Great question; here’s the answer. According to AAA Idaho/Oregon, our gas prices rose eight cents from last week’s price.

In other words, gas prices are now $4.57 per gallon. Last month, gas was twenty-seven cents cheaper, while last year the price was a dollar and eleven cents cheaper than what we’re paying today.

What About the national average?

The national average is up but holding at $4.08 per gallon. Idaho is currently the seventh most expensive state in the union for gasoline purchases. Consumers across the country continue to feel the pain as the midterm elections near.

Democrats continue to press the narrative that President Trump is to blame along with all Republicans. The hope is that Americans will be so mad at the Grand Old Party they'll vote for the Liberals

What's Next For Idaho?

Politically the Gem State is solidly Republican, which means it would take a lot for the Democrats to beat the current slate of incumbents. Experts tell us people will continue to make due until times change.

“Some folks are doing serious budget gymnastics to make ends meet,” says AAA Idaho public affairs director Matthew Conde. “Hopefully, there are calmer days and lower prices on the way this fall.”
