It's seem so long ago that the famous slogan, 'fly the friendly skies ' resonated with the American public.  Airlines continue to cut costs at the expense of airline customers.  The airwaves and internet are filled with stories of endless delays from the first passenger perspective.  However, here's a story that is just plain scary.

A late morning flight from North Carolina to New York on Friday turned out to be nothing short of harrowing as a suicidal woman tried to open the plane's door.  Delta Flight 5935 left Raleigh Durham International Airport at 11:54 a.m. As it began its gradual descent into New York's LaGuardia Airport at 1:40 p.m., a woman jumped out of her seat, ran to the cabin door and attempted to open it.

"She was screaming her head off that she needed to open the door and die," passenger Stacy Herbert tweeted. "Couldn’t get door open, of course. Although members of the flight crew pulled the 20 something-year-old woman away from the door, she continued screaming until the plane landed and New York police officers boarded to take her into custody. Herbert says she and the other passengers continued hearing her scream after she was escorted off the plane.

No word on what charges will be levied against the woman who tried to open the airplane door.  You can read more about the story here from CBS local.
