Boise’s Interfaith Sanctuary Opens During Days to Serve Families
As the weather starts to change and temperatures drop, Boise's Interfaith Sanctuary is expanding their hours to better serve families in need during the cold of winter.
In the past, the shelter has been closed between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., but starting Monday November 6th, the doors will be open for families needing services between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
The services offered will include early education for kids, parenting classes, snacks, nap times, and case management services as well. School-age children will also have the opportunity to participate in after-school programs as well.
This is starting and motivated by the change in the weather, but officials with the Interfaith Sanctuary do say the additional services will become permanent.
As has been the case with services for the homeless before, staffing and funding are not unlimited so for the time being, these services will be offered to families. There is a desire to add additional daytime services for individuals in the future as well.
The Idaho Statesman has more on this and other services offered in our area too.
