Police Warn Edibles Could Endanger Your Trick or Treating
The battle of the consequences of legalized weed has hit close to home this week. Police in a Pennsylvania town say they found an edible that looks like a Nerd Rope. The Johnston Police department stated what they found contained over 400 miligrams of THC. The department took to its Facebook page to issue the following warning:
During this Halloween, we urge parents to be ever vigilant in checking their children’s candy before allowing them to consume those treats. Drug laced edibles are package like regular candy and may be hard to distinguish from the real candy.
Authorities urge parents to be extra careful and to check all the candy that their kids collect when trick or treating. Last year, five kids got sick ingesting edibles, reports AZCentral. There have other reported cases of edibles finding there way into kids candy baskets says News6. There report cites several cases over the years where children Massachusetts were told to throw away Twizzlers after two packages had sewing needles in them. There was a big scare in Wisconsin where meth was found in a kid's candy collection.
The debate over edibles and legalizing marijuana has heated up recently as Ontario, Oregon voted to allow pot dispensaries to sell recreational weed. Currently the state of Idaho complies with federal law that makes marijuana illegal.
