As predicted on KIDO Talk Radio, Congressional Democrats want to legalize marijuana legally on the federal level. Currently 23 states are in violation of federal law by legalizing the weed at the state level.

Special interests have begun pressuring influential Senators on the banking committee to allow banks to process the weed money.  Banks are currently prohibited from processing cash from marijuana dispensaries.  While some are serving life sentences in prison for marijuana related-convictions, Democrat and House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler of New York is sponsoring legislation that would legalize marijuana at the federal level.

The legislation currently has 55 sponsors. It would remove cannabis from The Controlled Substances Act, and would set aside funding provide job training and legal aid to those affected by prohibition enforcement. The bill would also help those who are "socially and economically disadvantaged" find licensing and legal help to work in the cannabis industry, according to Forbes.  Money to fund the programs would come from a federal 5% tax on marijuana sales.

Most experts believe that this legislation could pass the House.  Most political pundits believe that if passed by the House, the US Senate will vote it down.  Currently Idaho Governor Brad Little has vowed that Idaho will remain free of legalized weed. The vote could come as early as this week.  Is it time to legalize marijuana at the federal level?  Do you know someone who has charges against them for marijuana?
